About Us

Established in 2013, Millwood Consulting has worked with a diverse range of organisations on research, policy development, submission and report writing projects, as well as strategic planning processes, facilitation and organisational and project evaluations.

Millwood Consulting is led by Founder and Director Dr Allison Henry. With a background in politics, law, public policy and advocacy, Allison has more than two decades of proven experience in innovative strategic thinking, undertaking high quality research, developing productive stakeholder relationships, driving campaigns and achieving public policy and funding outcomes.

Allison completed her PhD with the Australian Human Rights Institute in the Faculty of Law and Justice at the University of New South Wales in 2023. Her thesis examined regulatory and institutional responses to campus sexual violence in Australia, for which she was awarded the Dean’s Award for Outstanding PhD.

In addition to her PhD, Allison also holds a Masters degree in International Studies (Hons) (University of Sydney), a Masters degree in International Law (with Merit) (Australian National University) and undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law (Macquarie University).

About Allison Henry - Millwood Consulting - Trusted Consultants

Prior to establishing Millwood Consulting, Allison served as a political Advisor in the Federal Parliament between 2006 and 2011, as a Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister and advisor to the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, the Shadow Attorney-General and the Shadow Minister for Health. In these roles Allison worked across a broad range of policy areas including women and men’s health, dental health, immigration detention policy, asylum seeker processing and welfare, emergency management response, constitutional reform and human rights. 

Allison served as National Director of the Australian Republican Movement between 2003 and 2006 and has also worked at the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Refugee Review Tribunal.

Allison is a proud Director of the Northern Rivers Community Foundation. She is a Co-Founder and former Board member of Fair Agenda, an independent community advocacy organisation working to bring about a fair and equal future for women, and a former Board member and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Republican Movement.

Working nationally, Allison lives in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.
